5 Operation
5.1 Cartridge Installation and Replacement
A cartridge can only be installed or replaced if both pressure
plates (9, Fig 1) are in their home position
⇒
Close the unit cover (8, Fig 1)
⇒
Press the retract key (4)
♦
The pressure plates retract to their home position and stop at
the end automatically
Just before the end, the retraction speed is reduced. Do not
open the equipment cover until the pressure plates have
come to a complete stop
If the pressure plates are stopped by pressing one of the ad-
vance keys, it will not resume automatically. Press the retract
key again to resume the retract motion.
⇒
Open the unit cover (8, Fig 1)
⇒
Install the cartridge (20) into the equipment Please make sure
that the cartridge is fitted just below the retention lug (12).
⇒
Close the unit cover (8, Fig 1)
The cover will only close if the cartridge has been properly
installed The red “Equipment cover” LED will remain on until the
cover has been properly closed (7, Fig 1)
⇒
To prepare and properly level the cartridge systems, follow the
instructions provided by the impression material manufacturer
Use only mixing nozzles recommended by the impression
material manufacturer. Use of any other mixing nozzles may
cause the equipment to malfunction.
5.2 Extrusion
⇒
P
repare the equipment as described in Chapter 51
⇒
Press and hold down the advance key (2) or (3):
-Impression tray (2), fast extrusion speed
or
-Dispenser (3), slow extrusion speed
♦
The mixer shaft (13, Fig 1) starts to turn and threads its way
automatically into the mixing nozzle (21, Fig 1), where it
stops
♦
The pressure plates advance at a high speed until they reach
the impression material
♦
Once they make contact with the impression material, the
equipment automatically switches to the selected extrusion
speed and the mixing shaft starts to turn
⇒
Fill the impression tray or dispenser
⇒
Release the advance key as soon as the desired amount of material has been mixed
♦
The pressure plates retract with a short relief stroke to prevent any additional impression material
from being extruded
The pressure plates will only move if the cover is closed.
An audible noise may be heard while threading the mixer shaft into the mixing nozzle. This is per-
fectly normal.
The first 5 cm of material from a newly installed cartridge or from an again inserted used cartridge
should be discarded.
Please note the recommendations from the impression material manufacturer!
If the cartridge is emptied during an extrusion, the pressure plates automatically return to their
home position so that a new cartridge can be quickly installed and a new extrusion process can
start.
