Thank you for choosing a Proxitron Laser Sensor for contactless distance measurement.
Please read these operating instructions carefully to ensure that its use and operation are as intended
for. They contain all the information that is important for a safe, long-term functioning of the Proxitron
Laser sensor sensors (referred to hereinafter as

).
11 Safety information and regulation
11.1 Use for intended purpose
The LMA/B serves exclusively for the contactless distance measurement of hot and cold objects. Any
use for a purpose other than that intended, or in contravention of the description in these operating
instructions, may vitiate any guarantee claims against the manufacturer.
Safety devices must not be turned ineffective.
Notices and warning signs must not be removed.
LMA/B should be repaired by authorized personnel only.
LMA/B requires specific protection for use in hazardous environment.
Pointing at the sun or at any other strong source of light might may lead to wrong
measurement.
Measurement on a poorly reflective target in a highly reflective environment may lead to wrong
measurement values.
Measurement on a highly reflective surface may lead to wrong measurement values.
Measurement through transparent media (e.g. glass, optical filters, Plexiglas or any other
transparent material) may lead to wrong measurement values.
Measurement on translucent objects (materials allowing light to pass through only in part, not
transparent, as for ex. Styropor, wax, some plastics and so on) may produce an excessive
measurement value, as light is additionally reflected at deeper layers.
Measurement result may also be distorted by quick changes in measurement conditions.
Note: This equipment should not be used in applications where personal safety
depends on the equipment functioning.
11.2 Unauthorized conversions or alterations of the equipment
No technical alterations may be made to the equipment unless they are approved by the manufacturer
in writing. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any consequent damage or injury should the
foregoing be contravened. This will moreover automatically mean the loss of any guarantee claims.
