3. Choose the Shut Down option by pressing the
return
key.
CAUTION:
Do not use the power button on the front panel to turn off the
computer. If you do, unsaved or open documents may be lost and you
may damage System files.
Note:
In the unlikely event that the system does not respond to mouse
movement or the keyboard, see
Restarting the computer
on page 36.
Sleep
If you choose the
Sleep
option in the Special menu or shutdown dialog, the
system enters energy-saving “sleep” mode. The monitor will dim if it is an
energy-saving monitor, and the mouse will stop responding to movement. For
information on how to use energy-saving functions, see
E n e r g y S a v e r
in
the Mac OS Guide.
To wake the system up, press the keyboard power key.
