Troubleshooting
Inco rr ect o p e r ations a r e often mistaken fo r t r ouble and malfunctions. If you think that the r e is
something w r ong with this com p onent, check the p oints below. Take a look at the othe r
com p onents and elect r ical a pp liances being used, because sometimes the pr oblem may lie the r e.
If the t r ouble isn’t so r ted out even afte r going th r ough the checks below, ask you r nea r est Pionee r
autho r ized inde p endent se r vice com p any to ca rr y out r e p ai r wo r k.
• If the unit does not o p e r ate no r mally due to exte r nal effects such as static elect r icity disconnect
the p owe r p lug f r om the outlet and inse r t again to r etu r n to no r mal o p e r ating conditions.
Problem Remedy
The p owe r does not tu r n on. • Disconnect the p owe r p lug f r om the outlet, and inse r t again.
• Make su r e the r e a r e no loose st r ands of s p eake r wi r e touching the r ea r p anel. This
could cause the r eceive r to shut off automatically.
The r eceive r suddenly switches
off.
• Afte r about a minute (you won’t be able to switch the unit on du r ing this time),
switch the r eceive r back on. If the message p e r sists, call a Pionee r autho r ized
inde p endent se r vice com p any.
No sound is out p ut when a
function is selected.
• Make su r e the com p onent is connected co rr ectly ( r efe r to Connecting u p on p age 11).
• P r ess
MUTE
on the r emote cont r ol to tu r n muting off.
• P r ess
SPEAKERS
to select the pr o p e r s p eake r set (see Switching the s p eaker
system on p age 24).
• P r ess
SIGNAL SEL
to select the pr o p e r in p ut signal (see Choosing the in p ut signal
on p age 40).
No image is out p ut when a
function is selected.
• Make su r e the com p onent is connected co rr ectly ( r efe r to Connecting u p on p age 11).
• Select the co rr ect com p onent (use the
MULTI CONTROL
buttons).
• Check The In p ut Assign menu on p age 44 to make su r e you’ r e assigned the
co rr ect in p ut.
• The video in p ut selected on the TV monito r is inco rr ect. Refe r to the inst r uction
manual su pp lied with the TV.
No sound f r om subwoofe r . • Make su r e the subwoofe r is switched on.
• If the subwoofe r has a volume knob, make su r e it’s tu r ned u p .
• The Dolby Digital o r DTS sou r ce you a r e listening to may not have an LFE channel.
• Switch the subwoofe r setting in S p eaker Setting on p age 42 to
YES

• Switch the LFE ATT (LFE Attenuate) on p age 39 to
LFEATT 0

• Refe r to S p eaker Setting on p age 42 to check the s p eake r settings.
• Refe r to Channel Level on p age 43 to check the s p eake r levels.

PHASE CONTROL
featu r e
doesn’t seem to have an
audible effect.
• If a pp licable, check that the low p ass filte r switch on you r subwoofe r is off, o r the
low p ass cutoff is set to the highest f r equency setting. If the r e is a
PHASE
setting on
you r subwoofe r , set it to 0º (o r de p ending on the subwoofe r , the setting whe r e you
think it has the best ove r all effect on the sound).
• Make su r e the s p eake r distance setting is co rr ect fo r all s p eake r s (see S p eaker
Distance on p age 44).
