Positioning test
3. Once complete, a smooth, quick motion bring the patient into a lying position
and start the measurement by double-clicking in the grid titled
Head straight,
head reclined

4. When the measurement is completed, bring the patient back to a sitting position
and start the measurement by double-clicking in the bottom grid titled
Head
straight, sitting
.
5. Repeat the three measurements with the patient's head turned to the right and
left side.
Dix-Hallpike test
The patient sits on the bed looking straight ahead with video goggles closed.

All tests should be started immediately after re-positioning the patient to identify
any nystagmus. It is recommended to video record the eye in order to identify any rota-
tional nystagmus.
1. Move the patient's head to the right (45
°
) and in a smooth, quick motion bring
the patient into a lying position with the head hanging downward, but sup-
ported, from the bed.
2. When the measurement is completed, bring the patient back to a sitting position
and perform the test with patient's head to the left.
3. During the measurement observe potential rotational nystagmus by observing
the eye on the computer screen and video recording.
