Gaze test
4.4.1
Description
The Gaze test provides an objective measurement of the patient's eye movements,
while the patient looks at horizontal and vertical positions.
4.4.2
Patient instructions
1. With the goggles closed, instruct the patient to look straight ahead with eyes as
open as possible for 10-20 seconds.
2. Instruct the patient to look to the left/right and up/down in no particular order
for approx. 10 seconds in each direction. The patient should not try to reach
extreme eye deviations, since this could cause a physiological end-point nystag-
mus of no clinical value.
Note ·
Patient should only move the eyes. The head should not move. If the patient moves
his/her head, it is appropriate to hold the patient’s head at a center position.
