The rules then become:
When the Active
Picture cursor is moved
, the SMPTE Sample cursor changes to select
the line and sample number of the sample in the nominated Input that provides the
luma value to the pixel picked out by the Active Picture cursor.
When the SMPTE Sample cursor is moved
, the Active Picture cursor moves to the pixel
to which the selected sample on the nominated Input contributes its luma value.
When the SMPTE Sample cursor is moved into the Blanking area,
the Active Picture
cursor is left on the edge of the Active area of the current display, with its X,Y position
shown as ---,---. It becomes active again when the cursor is moved back into the Active
Picture area.
The steps used to select the Input that acts as the link between the two cursors and to move the
cursors are given below.
To set the Input providing the link between the Active Picture and
SMPTE Sample cursors:
Pick the required Input from the drop-down list associated with the ‘Input’ entry shown at the
bottom of the SMPTE Sample cursor rose.
Note:
Inputs are identified by
n
:
m
numbers where
n
is the number of the cable and
m
is the
number of the Input within that cable.
To move the cursor using the Cursor Roses:
To move the Active Picture cursor:
Either:
Position the cursor by clicking on the arrows of the Active Picture cursor rose.
Or:
Set the X, Y settings in the centre of the Active Picture cursor rose to the required line
and pixel values.
To move the SMPTE Sample cursor:
Either:
Position the cursor by clicking on the arrows of the SMPTE Sample cursor rose.
Or:
Set the X, Y settings in the centre of the SMPTE Sample cursor rose to the required line
and pixel values.
Where the required position is visible within a Data View, Cable View, Picture or Zoom View:
Simply click on the appropriate display at the required position.
Note:
The sequence of SMPTE sample numbers as the cursor moves from left to right depends
on the video standard that is selected. In particular, Sample 0 isn’t necessarily at the left-hand
edge of line but is often half-way along the line.
