W.1.2 Configuring the Line Pattern
The form the line pattern takes is set in the right-hand panel of the Generator window when the
line pattern is selected.
Scrolling this section of the display shows that the definition for a line pattern is divided into six
Segments
, each of which specifies a
Pattern
and a
Line count
. These allow you to set up patterns
made up of up to six separate patterns.
To start with, the display will show the selection of 100.0.100.0 Color Bars for all six segments
but different line counts in that the Line count for Segment 1 will show the depth of 1080, while
the other Line counts will all be set to 0. The resulting line pattern comprises a single segment of
100.0.100.0 Color Bars.
To define the required line pattern:
1.
Check that the line pattern is selected in the Generator window. If
necessary, click on the line pattern’s thumbnail to select it.
Which source image is currently selected can be seen both by
spotting which thumbnail is highlighted and from the
Title
entry
in the right-hand panel.
2.
For each segment that you want to use, display the drop-down
menu associated with the
Pattern
entry to show the list of
available line patterns (see Figure W-2) and select the pattern you
require in this segment.
The thumbnail for the pattern will automatically change to show
the overall pattern that has been set up.
3.
Also for each segment, set the
Line count
to the number of lines
you want this segment to occupy
when output in a 1080-line
video format
. (These counts will be automatically scaled to fit the
video format selected when it is output.)
Note
: Ideally the total should add up to 1080 but if it doesn’t, the
Ultra
will either fill in or cut short the pattern as required
.
4.
You are advised to also set a unique ‘
Title
’ for the pattern.
Note:
The pattern you create is automatically saved on the
Ultra
’s Flash disk but will be removed if you either delete it or
carry out a Factory Reset. The steps to use to save it more
permanently (and to make it available to copy to other systems)
are described in Section W.4.
