Monitor the Message Window for any progress messages. If the test is
successful, the router disconnects from the remote site. If the test is not
successful, make changes to the configuration based on progress
messages that appear in the Message Window, and then try again.

Description
Profile Name
Enter a unique name for this profile.
Call Direction
Select a call direction. Choose from:
•
Incoming Only – Select this direction if the remote site will only dial in to the
router.
•
Outgoing Only – Select this direction if the router will only dial out to the remote
site.
•
Both – Select this direction if the remote site will dial in and the router will dial
out. The default direction is Both.
NOTE: If you set the Call Direction to Incoming, the Remote Phone Number, My
System Name, and My System Password fields are not displayed unless Call Back
is set to Yes. If only incoming calls are allowed with this profile, the APPLY and
TEST button is displayed.
Call Back
Select whether to enable the call back security feature. When you enable call back,
the router answers an incoming call, authenticates the dial-in user’s remote system
name and remote password, disconnects the call, and then dials the remote user’s
call back number to reconnect.
NOTE: If you set Caller ID Authen. to Yes in the Connection Profile Configuration,
Remote Office Access (advanced) dialog box, the call is not answered and the
router dials the remote user’s call back number to connect.
This field is displayed when you set Call Direction to Incoming or Both.
Call Back Phone
Number
Enter the remote user’s call back phone number.
This field is displayed when you set Call Back to Yes.
Remote Phone
Number
Enter the ISDN phone number of the remote router connected to the remote LAN.
My System Name
Enter the name that the remote system uses to recognize your network. This field is
case sensitive, so nortel is not the same as Nortel or NORTEL.
My System Password
Enter the password the remote system uses to authenticate your system. This field
is case sensitive, so nortel is not the same as Nortel or NORTEL.
Incoming
Authentication
Displays the method used for authentication. The router first uses CHAP to
authenticate the incoming call. If CHAP authentication fails, then PAP is used.
