Use the information in Table 4-2 to configure the advanced settings and
then do one of the following:
• Click OK to save your changes.
• Click Multilink to configure Multilink options. For details, refer to
“Configuring Remote Office Access Connection Profile Multilink
Options” on page 4-8
.

(Advanced) Fields
Field Description
Data Service Select the type of data service from the list. Select from Data Over Voice Channel,
64K, 56K, or Auto. Select Auto unless you know that the speed required by the
other end of the connection requires either 64K or 56K. Select Data Over Voice
Channel if you want to support data calls over a standard voice port. For more
information on Data over Voice, refer to
“Configuring Advanced ISDN Port Settings”
on page 6-5 .
Remote Sub-Address Enter an optional subaddress of the remote server to be used when dialing the
remote router.
Caller ID Authen. Select whether to enable caller ID authentication for this profile. When you enable
caller ID authentication, the router verifies the incoming caller ID before accepting
the call. This option may require a special service from your ISDN service provider.
Caller ID Number Enter the caller ID phone number to authenticate.
This field is displayed when you set Caller ID Authen. to Yes.
STAC Compression Select whether to use STAC compression. STAC compression allows outgoing data
to be compressed to achieve higher throughput, and compressed incoming data to
be recognized. The ability to use compression depends upon the capabilities of
your ISP.
Idle Timeout Enter the number of seconds of inactivity for the connection before the router
disconnects the call. You can set the idle timeout from 0 to 3600 seconds. The
default setting is 120 seconds. If you set the timeout to 0, the connection never
times out.
Enable IP Select whether to enable IP routing over a connection using this profile. When you
enable IP routing, the router routes IP data packets to the appropriate server or host
according to entries in the IP routing table.
IP RIP Select whether to enable IP Routing Information Protocol (RIP). When you enable
IP RIP, the router receives RIP broadcast data from other routers, and broadcasts
the routing table and routing table updates as necessary.
IP RIP Version Select the version of IP RIP to use.
This field is displayed when you set IP RIP to Yes.
