Upgrading the Router Firmware

To upgrade firmware:

1.

In the Upgrade Firmware field in the System Upgrade dialog box

(Figure 8-2)

, enter the local path and filename (for example,

a:\P18v413.sig) of the upgrade file, or click Browse to select a path and
filename.

2.

Click Upgrade and follow the instructions on your screen.

The new firmware begins loading across the network. After the operation is
complete, be sure to reset the system to have the new firmware take effect.
For details, refer to

“Resetting the Router” on page 8-5

.

Saving and Clearing Configuration Changes

The router automatically saves unsaved configuration changes every 30 minutes.
You can use the configuration options to save changes immediately, for example,
when you need to turn the router off, or clear the configuration completely.

To save or clear configuration changes:

1.

Choose System Tools > Configuration Data Options.

The Configuration Data Options dialog box
