Checking for leakage
Select [Run]-[Leak Check] from the menu to check the leak before measurements or if the
abnormal measurements of standard solutions are found.
CHECK 1: Argon gas with 0.4L/min is flowing in the highlighted line on the flow screen for
30 sec to fill the line with Argon gas and then is flowing with 0.06L/min.
Confirm the flow rate of the outlet flow meter 0.06+/-0.01L/min after about 1min
later.
(Since the flow meter has 5% error and the gas temperature is different from
the one when it is calibrated, the flow rate is not just 0.06L/min. But use this
reading as the reference indicator of evaluations below.)
CHECK 2: Argon gas is flowing in the measurement line same as above.
H5 is heated
to maximize a flow resistance. If the difference between this flow rate and
CHECK1 is greater than 0.005L/min, there is a possibility that a small leakage
may happen. Please fasten all joints on the line and branch pipes.
CHECK 3: Confirm when the mercury collection tube-heating unit (RH-PE: option) is
connected. Check as above.
CHECK 4: Confirm the certainty of the switching valve V6 for Argon and Air.
Air is flowing 0.06L/min. (Note: 0.06L/min is not accurate because the mass
flow controller for Air is 1L/min FS and the flow meter is for Argon, not Air.)
Once approx. 0.06L/min is confirmed, shut off Air and ensure the flow goes to
zero after 1min.
