Opening the PCB carrier
Reasons to open
the PCB carrier You open the PCB carrier to access the motherboard, expansion adapters, and
other field-replaceable units in the chassis.
Opening the PCB
carrier To open the PCB carrier, complete the following steps.
Step Actions
1 Shut down the chassis by entering the following command at the
console:
halt
Caution
Always use the
halt
command to perform a clean shutdown.
2 Turn off and disconnect the power to the chassis.
3 Put on the antistatic wrist strap and attach the grounding leash to the
chassis frame.
4 Using a #0 or #1 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the eight thumbscrews
on the back panel of the PCB carrier.

CAUTION
PROPERLY SHUT DOWN SYSTEM BEFORE OPENING CHASSIS.
OPENING WITH POWER ON WILL CAUSE IMPROPER SHUTDOWN.
