Reasons to open
the PCB carrier
You open the PCB carrier to access the motherboard, expansion adapters, and
other field-replaceable units in the chassis.
Opening the PCB
carrier
To open the PCB carrier, complete the following steps.
Step

Shut down the chassis by entering the following command at the
console:
halt
Caution
Always use the
halt
command to perform a clean shutdown.

Turn off and disconnect the power to the chassis.
3
Put on the antistatic wrist strap and attach the grounding leash to the
chassis frame.
4
Using a #0 or #1 Phillips screwdriver, loosen the eight thumbscrews
on the back panel of the PCB carrier.

PROPERLY SHUT DOWN SYSTEM BEFORE OPENING CHASSIS.
OPENING WITH POWER ON WILL CAUSE IMPROPER SHUTDOWN.
