Installing a power
supply
To install a power supply in a disk shelf, complete the following steps.
Step
Action
1
Put on the antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash.
2
Slide the power supply into the disk shelf until the threaded end of
the thumbscrew contacts the matching screw hole assembly inside
the disk shelf.
Caution
Do not use excessive force when sliding the power supply into the
disk shelf; you can damage the connector.
3
Using your fingers, or a screwdriver if necessary, turn the
thumbscrew on the lower left-hand corner of the power supply to
help pull it into place until the front face is flush with the second
power supply.
Note
The power supply thumbscrew is used for pulling the power supply
into the backplane and securing it in place. Do not overtighten the
thumbscrew. Apply only enough force to pull the power supply into
place. If using a power screwdriver, set the torque initially to its
lowest setting.
4
Connect the AC power cord to the back of the disk shelf.
5
Turn on the power supply.
