Replacing the EMU
Replacing the EMU
Installing an EMU in a disk shelf
Installing an EMU
To install an EMU in a disk shelf, complete the following steps.
Step
Action
1
Put on the antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash.
2
Line up both sides of the EMU card with the guides on each side of
the EMU bay.
Caution
Install the card in its correct orientation; that is, with the circuit board
components facing down. Even though it’s physically possible to
install the EMU card upside down with the components facing up,
the connecting pins do not engage with the connection terminal on
the power backplane when it is installed that way.
3
Using both hands, carefully slide the EMU into the rear slot of the
disk shelf until it is seated into the insertion slot.
Caution
Do not use excessive force when sliding the EMU into the disk shelf;
you can damage the connector.
4
Tighten the thumbscrew on each side of the EMU.
5
Connect both AC power cords to the back of the disk shelf.
6
Turn on the power supply.
