Removing the
NVRAM III battery To remove the NVRAM III battery, complete the following steps.
Step Action
1 Open the PCB carrier.
Follow the procedure in “ Opening the PCB carrier ” on page 86.
2 Unplug the electrical cable from the connector on the NVRAM III
adapter.
Caution
If you did not perform a clean shutdown using the halt command,
disconnecting the NVRAM battery from the NVRAM III adapter
results in data loss.
3 Flip the retaining clip on the battery carrier down.
WARNING WARNING
If the battery is leaking, follow the procedure in “ Handling a
leaking NVRAM III battery ” on page 106.
4 Remove the battery from the battery carrier in the chassis and set it
aside.
