4.7.2.3 SAM Test Regime
This menu item is only valid for SAM tester mode. The regime selects how the
traffic generator is to be controlled. The options are as below:
MANUAL
Manual Mode allows the traffic generator to be configured
manually, and perform specific tests under user control.
Y.1564
Y.1564 Test Mode selects an automated test methodology
which enables traffic flow SLA’s to be verified in the
presence of background traffic.
4.7.2.4 Y.1564 Testing
The testing standard ITU Y.1564 defines a methodology to verify the Service
Level Agreements applied to customer services may be achieved. Y.1564 is an
improvement over RFC-2544 which was targeted at simply finding the maximum
throughput of a link, in that it uses multiple traffic flows to verify SLA parameters
in the presence of background traffic.
When the SAM mode is set to Tester and the Regime Y.1564 is selected the
menu changes to the following:

4.7.2.4.1 State
The test state starts or stops the test in progress. Once the various parameters
are configured to define the test features to run, the test state should be changed
to RUNNING.
Once the test is running it will then cycle though and test each assigned flow
according to the test definitions against the required SLA parameters.
