12. General information for measurements
Before the actual testing procedure with the instrument can be
started, some preparations concerning the test strip are necessary.
Adhere to this information for every testing procedure and for every
test as to ensure correct and safe results.
12.1 Urine sample

Use fresh urine (within 4 h after sample collection)
n
Do not centrifuge sample
n
Mix sample well
n
Cooled urine has to be warmed to room temperature (15 – 30 °C)
12.2 Test strip preparation
CAUTION
Biological Hazard: Urine residues
Urine and used test strips pose a risk of infection. Always
wear protective gloves when handling and disposal.
Dispose of used test strips according to the regulations
for handling potentially infectious material.
1. Take one test strip out of the box.
2. Do not touch test pads with fingers.
3. Dip the test strip for 1 second into the sample. Make sure all test
pads are immersed completely.
4. Draw the edge of the strip along the rim of the sample container
to remove excess urine.
5. Touch the long edge of the strip briefly (1 second) to an ab‑
sorbent paper towel to remove excess urine between the test
pads.
6. The test strip is ready to be measured.
13. Measurement
13.1 Sample and patient information
Right after the instrument has been switched on, it is ready to
perform measurements. As soon as the start screen appears, the
green light above the transport tray indicates readiness.

Worklist
is initially
not activated and is only used as soon as patient IDs are imported
(see chapter 13.4 Measurements with worklist, page 26)
You can add supplemental information concerning the patient and
sample. To do so, press the activity‑button

in the lower
left of the screen. A new menu appears, in which you can add the
supplemental information.
Press
to confirm and save your changes. If you leave the
menu by pressing
, none of your changes will be adopted.

Press the edit‑button for ID. The input‑menu

can edit the patient ID.
Seq.No
This edit‑button contains the current sequence number for the next
measurement. The sequence number always starts at 0001 and
is set back after every change in dates. To change the sequence
number, press the edit‑button containing the number. The input‑
menu

appears and you can edit the sequence number.
Clarity
This option‑field allows you to add visual information about the
sample’s clarity. Press the choice‑buttons to select one of the
four different options. You can set the description for the four
parameters in the settings
(see chapter 8.8 Customization, page
. By default, the clarity parameters are set to “Clear”, “Turbid”,
“Cloudy” and “Dark”.
Color
This option‑field allows you to add visual information about the
sample’s color. Press the choice‑buttons to select one of the
four different options. You can set the description for the four
parameters in the settings
(see chapter 8.8 Customization, page
. By default, the color parameters are set to “Yellow”, “Red”,
“Brown” and “Bright”.
