D. PINCH POINT ADJUSTMENT:
Figure 5.9
The pinch point on the upper and lower inside belts
is adjustable. The pinch point is the exit point for
the bag neck from the closer gathering belts. The
pinch point is properly adjusted when all the bag
film is fed into the closure opening without incurring
damage to the bag film.
Adjust the lower inside belt as follows:
1.
Remove the lower belt guard.
2.
Remove the belt cartridge. Refer to SECTION
VI, Maintenance, Part A, Lower Drivebelt
Replacement, for instructions to remove the belt
cartridge.
3.
Loosen the inside belt tensioner mounting
screws (2) as shown in Section VI, Figure 6.5.
4.
Loosen the lower belt pinch point adjustment
screw and move the pulley as needed. Use the
tensioner pulley to apply a ”light” tension to the
belt. Tighten the tensioner pulley mounting
screw, followed by the belt tensioner screws.
Adjust the upper inside belt as follows:
1.
Remove the outside upper plate and remove the
upper bogie plate from the inside upper plate.
2.
Loosen the upper belt adjustment screws to
loosen the belt slightly.
3.
Move the upper pulley as needed to align it to
the lower pulley on the exit side of the belts.
Re-tension the belt and tighten the pulley.
4.
Replace the upper bogie plate, insuring that it
moves freely in it’s slots. Snap on the outside
upper plate and lower belt cover.
