Setup

In encoder mode the closer monitors an encoder mount-
ed to the drive roll of the conveyor. When the conveyor
changes speed, the closer also automatically changes
belt speed. The linear speed slide on the touch screen is
used to fine tune the speed adjustment. The encoder
must be a 360 pulse per revolution, 5-26V in, 5-26V open
collector NPN type. A conveyor ramp-up speed of three
seconds is recommended to allow the closer belts to
come up-to-speed with the conveyor. When the conveyor
comes to a complete stop the closer belts will continue to
rotate at a slow speed to allow any bag in the machine to
be closed.
Use the following procedures to select the speed control
method.
1. On the Main Control screen press the “Setup”
button.
2. Enter the password at the Password Required
screen and press the “OK” button.
3. Press the “Speed” button at the Setup screen.
4. Press the desired speed control method to select
it. If “Encoder” is selected, an additional screen
will appear to enter the conveyor roll diameter in
millimeters. If the closer is mounted to a chain
conveyor, enter the pitch diameter of the drive
sprocket in millimeters. Press the “OK” button
when complete.
5. Press the “OK” button on the screens that follow
to exit back to the Main Control screen.
M. LOK MANAGEMENT:
An optional lok management system is available for the
893 closer. The lok management system monitors the
closing sequence. Refer to, Appendix, Page 4, Part B.,
Lok management for details on this option.
N. USE ETHERNET FOR SETUP:
An optional Ethernet communication kit is available for
the 893 closer. This option allows setup from a remote
PC. Refer to, Appendix, Page 1, Part A, Use ethernet for
setup for details on this option.
