SECTION IV
Operation
When the package bag film enters the 893, it is
caught between the upper and lower bag closing
belts. The bag depresses the bag sensor lever,
and is fed into the lok opening. When the trailing
edge of the bag passes the bag sensor lever, it
returns to its home position which initiates the clos-
ing cycle. The breakoff lever separates the closure
from the strip, and the package moves away from
the 893. The pick brings the next lok into the clos-
ing position. The printer, if equipped, prints on the
next lok.

The 893 closer can be manually cycled anytime the
feed belts are running or stopped by pressing the
“Cycle” button on the touch screen.
F: ENABLE OR DISABLE PRINTER:
The printer can be temporarily disabled at any time
by pressing the “Disable printer” button on the
touch screen. The printer can be enabled by press-
ing the “Enable printer” button on the touch screen.
The Enable / Disable button only appears when a
printer is selected in the printer setup screen.
G. UNLOAD CLOSURES:
Press the “Unload” button on the touch screen to
remove the closures from the 893. Pull the closure
strip straight up out of the lok track.

Should a jam condition occur in the closure track or
belt assemblies, it can be cleared as follows:
1. Stop the conveyor, the 893 closer and the bag
tensioner.
Do not attempt to clear a jammed
condition until the systems have completely
stopped moving.
2. To access the top feedbelts, snap off the upper
outside plate by grasping the plate. Rotate the
bottom of the plate out first by using your
thumbs as a pivot point (Figure 4.8).
