F. SELECT ALARMS:
Figure 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.12,
The 893 has two separate alarm channels. The alarms
are activated when there is an error condition with the
closer. Each alarm channel can be selected independ-
ently, or they can be used together. Alarm channel B can
be setup to deliver a 200 ms pulse. The alarm system
response can be individually tailored for each error con-
dition as shown below. For example, the “lok not insert-
ed” error could be configured to pulse alarm B to activate
a reject kicker, while the “bag jammed” error is set up to
activate only alarm A. The alarms are accessed through
the alarm port and alarm cable. All error conditions also
display on the touch screen. Use the following proce-
dures to configure the alarms
1.
On the Main Control screen press the “Setup”
button.
2.
Enter the password at the Password Required
screen and press the “OK” button.
3.
Press the “Detectors” button at the Setup screen.
4.
Press the “Alarms” button at the Detector
Settings screen.
5.
Configure the alarm response for each error by
pressing the appropriate check box. Select “B
Pulse” to pulse alarm channel B for about 200ms.
The “B” and “B Pulse”options cannot be select-
ed at the same time. All alarm response for an
error can be disabled if no alarms are configured.
Press the “OK” button when complete
6.
Press the “OK” button on the screens that follow
to exit back to the Main Control screen.
G. ENABLE BAG JAM DETECTION:
Figure 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.11,
The bag jam detection system constantly measures the
amount of time required to close a package. The 893
averages the closing time of the last eight packages. If a
package takes longer than twice the average to close, the
893 assumes the bag is jammed in the machine.
The closer will automatically attempt to clear the jam.
The closer will immediately activate the lok breaker once.
If the jam condition is not fixed, an error message is dis-
played on the screen, the alarm signals will activate, and
the pick and lok breaker will move to the load position so
that the operator may easily clear the jam. The 893 will
not cycle when the jam alarm is indicated. After the jam
is cleared, the detection system will automatically reset.
The initial default time setting for the jam detection sys-
tem is three seconds. The closer begins averaging when
packages are closed. The average reverts back to the
default time setting whenever the speed of the closer
changes or the power is turned off. The averaging
process begins again when packages are closed. The
default time can be changed if needed. Increase the
default bag closing time if the 893 is closing extremely
wide bags, or operating extremely slowly.
Use the following procedures to enable or disable the bag
jam detector and change the default bag closing time.
1.
On the Main Control screen press the “Setup”
button.
2.
Enter the password at the Password Required
screen and press the “OK” button.
3.
Press the “Detectors” button at the Setup screen.
4.
Press the check box next to the “Enable jam
detector” to select it.
5.
Press the number next to “Default bag time” to
change it. Enter a new time (in seconds) and
press the “OK” button when complete. Leave the
default time at three seconds unless the closer
routinely issues a bag jam error when there is
actually no jam.
6.
Press the “OK” button on the screens that follow
to exit back to the Main Control screen.
