4.3.4 Using the touch screen to start the device
– Switch the device on, pressing the touch screen at the same time.
The alarm message “A-1E: Activated touch screen during power up” will appear.
The message is displayed on the screen against a turquoise background. The procedure list must be
empty and displayed on a gray background.
– It is now possible to go to “Device Setup: Select Option”.
4.3.5 Using the footswitch to start the device
– Connect whichever footswitch you prefer.
– Switch the device on, pressing the footswitch at the same time.
The alarm message “A-12: Activation during power up not allowed” will appear.
The message is displayed on the screen against a yellow / orange background. A single acoustic
signal with “Medium priority level” will be sounded. The procedure list must be empty and displayed
on a gray background.
– It is now possible to go to “Device Setup: Select Option”.
4.3.6 Using the handpiece to start the device
Note:
This test item is not applicable to device versions –113 or –114 (but does also apply to U11y
versions).
– Connect a monopolar handpiece 205300 43 with cable 205300 45 to the monopolar socket.
– Press any button of the handpiece during power up.
The alarm message “A-12: Activation during power up not allowed” will appear. The message is
displayed on the screen against a yellow / orange background. A single acoustic signal with “Medium
priority level” will be sounded. The procedure list must be empty and displayed on a gray background.
– It is now possible to go to “Device Setup: Select Option”.
4.3.7 Testing the NE monitoring critical resistance (NE
single-faced)

This test item is not applicable to device versions –113 or –114 (but does also apply to U11y
versions).

Figures 4.4 and 4.5 show the fundamental presentation of the tests conducted subsequently.
– Switch the device off.
– Connect a dual-pedal footswitch. Alternatively, a triple-pedal footswitch can also be used.
– Prepare the testing equipment test box symmetry / resistance.
– Using an adapter cable, connect the NE cable to connections no. 6 and 7 on the symmetry /
resistance test box.
– Turn the device on.
The device will start up and the procedure list will be displayed.
– In Device Setup, set the NE type to single-faced.
– From procedure selection, move on to “Device Setup: Select Option”
.
– Press the “Application Settings” button.
– In the “NE Type” field use the up / down arrows
to select “single-faced”.
– Press “Enter”
to confirm the selection.
You will then move one menu level up to “Device Setup: Select Option”.
– Press the “Back” button
to return to procedure selection.
– Select any procedure.
– Select the monopolar socket.
– Assign the dual-pedal footswitch to the monopolar socket.
– Proceed as follows to set the operating mode:
Power Cut
Power: 10 W
Effect: 1
– The NE indicator on the device must light up red.
