bgp shutdown

Use to shut down BGP globally.

neighbor shutdown
■
Use to shut down a neighbor or peer group without removing their configuration.
■
This command takes effect immediately.
■
Use the no version to reenable a neighbor or peer group that was previously
shut down. Use the default version to remove the explicit configuration from
the peer or peer group and reestablish inheritance of the feature configuration.

Configuring BGP for Overload Conditions
You can specify how you want BGP to behave when it is running out of memory in
an overload condition. You can have BGP either shut itself down or continue running;
in the latter case, BGP performance might be altered because of the lack of resources.
overload shutdown

Use to shut down BGP if it runs out of memory.
■
The default behavior is for BGP to transition from the Up state to the Overload
state and continue running.
■
This command takes effect immediately.
■

host1(config-router)# overload shutdown
■
Use the no version to restore the default behavior.
