6 Locating the communication adapter cable
Skip this step if you do not have a modem or if
using a Hardware Management Console and
continue on step 12.
1. Locate the communication adapter cable.
Note:
The modem may be customer supplied, if
so ask the customer to supply you with this
cable.

Determination Considerations:

EMEA ONLY.
Ensure that the TCP/IP
(Asynchronous) Interface for Remote
Service Facilities is supported.
7 Asynchronous Connection
1. Connect the communication cable to the
system unit at LG17-J6 Serial port
1
and to
the modem and tighten the screws.
2. Connect the telephone cable sent with the
modem to the modem connector labeled
PSN, LL or PSTN and to the telephone
line.
3.
Optional:
Connect the telephone set to the
modem connector with the picture of the
telephone receiver or the connection
labeled phone depending on the modem.
4. Connect the modem power cable to
building power.
8 Setting modem switches
If you have a 7858 modem, go to step 9.
If you have a 7852 Model 400 modem, go to
step 10.
If you have a non-IBM modem, go to step 11.
