Principles
The i-SmartCare 10 Blood Gas Analyzer measures pH, blood gas (
p
CO
2
,
p
O
2
), electrolytes (Na
+
, K
+
, Ca
2+
, Cl
-
), hematocrit (Hct) and metabolite(Glu,
Lac) using the potentiometry (ion selective electrode), amperometry and
conductometry.
Measuring principles for each parameter are as follows:

Once a cartridge is installed into the analyzer, the instrument will
perform scheduled 1-point(Cal 1), 2-point(Cal 2) or O
2
(Cal 3) sensor auto
calibration periodically using three types of calibration solutions during
the uselife of a cartridge. When a sample is introduced, the analyzer
will measure electrical signals produced by the measuring principles
corresponding to each parameter, then calculate concentration using the
formula and display on the analyzer’s screen.
