Parameters

Description
Use the
strict-standby enable
command to enable strict standby mode for the network ports on the MPUs.
Use the
undo strict-standby enable
command to disable strict standby mode for the network ports on the
MPUs.
NOTE:
The strict-standby setting is applicable only to the A7503, A7506, A7506-V, and A7510 switches that
use two LSQ1SRP2XB MPUs.
By default, strict standby is disabled, and the network ports on both MPUs can forward traffic regardless
of the active/standby state of the MPUs. If the standby MPU has a hardware failure, the network ports on
it might not be able to correctly forward data.
In strict standby mode, only the network ports on the active MPU can forward traffic. When an
active/standby switchover occurs between the MPUs, the network ports on the original active MPU go
down and the network ports on the new active MPU come up to forward traffic.
You can use the network ports on the MPUs to set up a dual-homed network and enable strict standby
mode to increase network availability.
