NOTE
•
Service the front cyli nder camshaft using the same procedu re as the rear cyl i nder.
•
Remove the ca m chain tensioner before removi ng the camshaft.
•
The "T1 " ti ming marks on the starter clutch a re for rea r cylinder head service.
•
The "T2 " ti m i ng marks on the starter clutch are for front cyl inder head service.
•
Be careful not to drop parts i nto the engine opening.

Rear cylinder head only.
NOTE
•
Before looseni ng, align the "T1 " (front cyli nder: "T2 " )
mark on the starter clutch with the index m a rk o n the
right crankcase cover, and make sure the No. 1 piston
(front cylinder: No. 4 piston) is on compression stroke.
If it is not on the compression stroke, turn the cra n k-
shaft clockwise 360° and align the marks aga i n .
•
Loosen t h e holder bolts i n a g radual, crisscross
pattern.

Dera i l the ca m chain from the sprocket and attach a
piece of mechanic's wire to it to prevent it from d ropping
i nto the crankcase.
