2.3 Destination
entry
Note:
The functions
Destination entry
,
Route planning
,
Tours
and
Position Tracking
are not available when there is no map material. Make sure you have installed appropriate
maps before using one of these functions. When the products are supplied, map material is
already preinstalled on your navigation device and/or an SD card. You can install additional
map material which is enclosed with some product types or is available to purchase
commercially on your device or an SD memory card. You will find more detailed information
on map transfer in the chapter on the Falk Navi-Manager (cf. Chapter 5).
GPS status
The fundamental basis for any navigation is sufficient satellite coverage so that your location
can be continuously determined with the aid of a GPS (Global Positioning System) signal.
To find out how to check the GPS status of your device, please consult Chapter 5.5.12.
Note
: The first time the device is turned on, it may take a few minutes to recognise the GPS
position. Your position will be recognised more quickly when the device is turned on on
subsequent occasions.
If you accidentally miss a turnoff or take an incorrect turn, a new route is calculated
automatically. You are safely guided to your desired destination by navigation
announcements; the screen also displays your current position and the route you need to
take.
You will automatically be in
Position Tracking mode
if you are not navigating to a specific
destination or are not in
Simulation mode
. Even if you are not heading for a particular
destination and would just like to explore the local area, you can nevertheless have the
navigation screen show your current position at all times.
You can exit navigation or simulation on the main menu by tapping the button
Delete route
or
Delete simulation
.
On the program screen tap on
Destination entry
.
Using the destination entry button, you can enter a destination of your choice and have the
navigation device guide you there conveniently. With the Falk Navigator, you can navigate to
a specific house number (depending on the map information available).
The destination can be selected in one of several ways.
•
By entering an address
•
By selecting the home address
•
By selecting a favourite
•
By selecting a recent destination
•
By selecting a special destination (POI)
•
By using the Travel Guide
•
By using tours
•
By selecting a point on the map
•
By entering geo-coordinates
You do not always have to enter the whole of the address in order to select a destination. All
you need to do is select a country and a city and, if applicable, a street in order to calculate a
route or in order to refine the destination entry on the map view or via the POI search.
