Replacing and Shaking Ink Cartridges
Shaking cartridges
As shown in the illustration, hold the cartridge horizontally and shake it in both directions
about 5 cm (2 inches) 15 times in 5 seconds.
For spot color inks and Orange Plus ink, when replacing the cartridges, shake them about
50 times in 15 seconds.
When replacing a cartridge, remove it from the bag and then shake it.
Replacement procedure
If an ink low warning is displayed, replace the ink cartridge(s) as soon as possible. If one
of the ink cartridges is expended, printing cannot be performed.
If an ink cartridge is expended while printing, you can continue printing after replacing the
ink cartridge. However, when replacing ink during a print job, you may see a difference in
color tone depending on the drying conditions.
Important:
Due to ink characteristics, the ink cartridges of this printer are prone to sedimentation
(components settling to the bottom of the liquid). Shake a new ink cartridge before installing it.
After installing it in the printer, remove and shake it periodically.
Important:
If Ink Cartridge Expended appears when using spot color inks, replace the old ink cartridge with
a new one promptly. If the ink expended warning is left displayed, the print head or other parts
may be damaged.
