Follow the instructions below to lubricate the carriage guide shaft and
add the correct amount of oil to the oil pad. Perform the steps only as
specified to avoid damaging the printer.
What You’ll Need
Before you begin, make sure you have the following items:
a clean, dry cloth
EPSON “O-8” oil (see
two oil pads (you will dispose of one of them after using it to
lubricate the carriage guide shaft)
a small syringe
NOTE: For the most control, use the smallest-diameter syringe
available. The syringe shown below holds only 2 cc.

Follow these steps:
1. Remove the carriage unit. (See
NOTE: EPSON recommends also removing the printhead. This
prevents you from accidentally splattering it with oil when
lubricating the oil pad in step 8. See
