certain computer in the VPN, please enter his IP address here. As an option, the input of an additional
IP address into the field "
TCP-Client-Address max " allows an IP address area to be defined, within
which the IP address of the TCP client may be located.

Now the TCP Port number, e.g., 40000

The field "own telephone number" can be left blank.
 In the field “
Parametrize via " to cover the need for Remote parameterization the option " GSM-CSD-
Modemverbindung " has been marked together with the GSM-Data call number otherwise the option
" Local interface ". The decision about which of the two options should be chosen was already made
before in the main window WinPADS (see further above).

If parameterization is effected via the local interface, and if on the SIM card a PIN is active, this PIN
must be entered. For remote parameterization, a PIN need not be entered, as the modem requires
logging on to the GSM network in any case.

Now, with the button "Set values" you can start the transmission of the values to the modem.

The transmission of the values to the ComTCPserv modem takes approx.
2 to 2.5 minutes. The completion of complete parameter transmission is
indicated with the message "
Parameterization OK ".
In the event of parameterization through the local parameter interface, the
following points must also be dealt with:

Switch off the power supply to the FE260 and disconnect the
parameterization cable from the FE260.

Set the jumper "Mode" to the position "Operation" (upper position).

Make sure that a GSM antenna is connected and that a SIM card has been inserted into the SIM slot
(see Section 7.3.2
", page 83).


7.3.5.3 Checking GSM field strength
Before starting a data transfer via the modem, you must ensure that there is adequate reception field strength.

On the display of the EK280, move the cursor in the tab " Serv. " to
Interfaces > " Terminal interface. > GSM & GPRS > GSM.L

With the cursor over GSM.L , please press the EK280 ENTER button and wait for approximately 30
to 60 seconds until the field strength percentage is displayed.

With a field strength below 50% data transfer issues may be encountered. Adjusting the antenna
position can improve field strength in most cases.
