Upgrading an internal modem
For the installation of an internal GSM/GPRS modem in the EK280 at a later date, please proceed as follows.
ATTENTION:
The permitted modem
assembly (73021257 or 73022761)
depends on the area in which it is
used (Ex-Zone 2 or Ex-Zone 1) !
Please note the information
detailed
in the table below and compare them
with the details of the modem to be
installed!
If theEK280 is connected to an external power supply, please switch this off.
Danger!
For EK280 with internal power supply, the mains voltage must be switched off before opening
the housing, ensure it is not turned back on and verify that there is no voltage.

Open the housing cover of the EK280
Push the 2x8-pin terminal strip of the modem assembly onto the
modem interface (X26) of the EK280 (see illustration). Pay special
attention to correct engagement of all 16 pins into the socket strip.
Attach the modem
assembly at the three points
marked. Only use the
Plastide 3x6 pan headed screws supplied. The fourth
screw is fitted later (see below).
Pass the GSM antenna supplied from the inside into the central plastic
cable gland. One eyelet of the green-yellow protective earth wire
is placed between the cable gland and the antenna base; the protective
earth wire is positioned laterally (see illustration).
