11 Operation
11.1 Changing the plate guide.

VistaScan Ultra View can be used to scan im-
age plates Size 0, Size 1, Size 2, Size 3 and
Size 4
i
Each size of image plate requires the match-
ing size plate guide
i
The size of the image plate is clearly marked
on the plate guide
i
Remove the plate guide by simply lifting it
from the transport
i
Install the plate guide by aligning the position
pins and placing the guide into the guide
holes It will snap into place due to the magnet
installed
CAUTION
If a plate guide is removed, a warning
message will appear on the LCD screen
that the plate guide is missing
11.2 X-ray
The procedure is described using a size
2 VistaScan Image Plate IQ S2 as an ex-
ample
Required accessories:
– VistaScan Image Plate IQ
– VistaScan Light Protection Cover Plus of the
same size as the image plate
– Plate guide and image plate are same size
WARNING
Risk of cross contamination when
not using the light protection cover or
when using the light protection cover
more than once

Do not use an image plate without a
light protection cover
i
Do not use the light protection cover
more than once (disposable item)
Preparing the X-ray
– The image plate has been cleaned
– The image plate is not damaged
– The RFID tag is attached to the image plate
If the RFID tag peels off, replace the image
plate
i
If using it for the first time or if it has been
stored for over a week: erase the image plate
(see "115 Erasing the image plate")
