Using ViewPoint
™
Software
ViewPoint™ software is used to monitor diagnostics and configure registers with DENT Instruments
PowerScout meters. All of DENT Instruments PowerScout meters use ViewPoint software to
communicate with the meter.
The screen display for each ViewPoint tab can be somewhat different based on the selected meter
(PS3/PS24) and the communication protocol (BACnet/Modbus). For example, a connected PowerScout 3
meter will show only one element on the Real-Time Values screen while a PowerScout 24 will show
eight. ViewPoint also displays language changes, i.e., registers/objects, in dialog boxes and text fields
based on the selected protocol.
The Communication screen is displayed when ViewPoint is first started. This is where the software
networking parameters are entered to match the PowerScout networking configuration (meter type,
COM port, baud rate, base address, etc.). ViewPoint remembers your last connection and displays those
previous selections when opening the software once again.
