positioned correctly, press it with minimal pressure to seat it.

When the chip is fully seated in the socket, pivot the
microprocessor-socket release lever back toward the socket until it
snaps into place, securing the chip.
NOTICE:
Ground yourself by touching an unpainted metal surface on the
back of the computer.

Replace the fan/heat sink assembly.
NOTICE:
On the new heat sink, remove the plastic tab covering the thermal
grease before placing the assembly on the microprocessor.

Place the unit on top of the microprocessor chip.

Orient the securing clip as shown in "
Microprocessor Heat Sink
Removal
" and hook the unhinged end of the clip over the tab on
the top edge of the socket.

Rotate the lever upward until it snaps into place.

Plug the fan cable into its connector on the
system board

Close the computer cover
, reconnect your computer and devices to
their electrical outlets, and turn them on.
As the computer boots, it detects the presence of the new
microprocessor and automatically changes the configuration
information in system setup.

Enter system setup and confirm that the
Microprocessor
option
correctly identifies the installed microprocessor.

Run the
Dell Diagnostics
to verify that the new microprocessor is
operating correctly.
