C h a p t e r   4

Motor Starter Circuit Wiring

Simplex stations use only MTR1_STR. Duplex stations use MTR1_STR and MTR2_STR. Triplex stations use all of the 
motor starter outputs. Unused starter outputs can be used as auxiliary outputs with control provided by telemetry.

Alarm Light and Horn Outputs

The alarm outputs use mechanical relays to drive up to 0.5 A at 120 VAC or 1 A at 0-24 VDC. The addition of 1 A slow 
blow fuses on the TCU outputs is recommended to protect the TCU’s alarm relays from short circuits. The alarm light 
output is a set of contacts that are closed when the TCU is powered down.

The alarm light output is designed to energize an incandescent lamp. Any other application requires an 

interposing relay, especially strobe lights due to their high peak current demands.
