BAR-CODE LABELS
The recommended operation of this system requires the use of bar-code labels for specimen
identification in the Primary (cap-piercing) mode, and on the AUTO-REPORTER 3 report form. The
labels are identification numbers, and can be up to 11 digits for Interleaved 2-of-5. The bar-code labels
used with this system must meet the Coulter specifications in your Reference manual, PN 4237182. It
is important to affix the labels carefully so that the scanner reads them correctly.

Rule for Interleaved 2-of-5
When you use Interleaved 2-of-5 bar-code labels, all labels must have the same number of digits. This
number is set on the Analyzer CRT in SYSTEM CONFIGURATION. You cannot mix the number of
digits stored in the DMS data base. If you do, this message appears on the DMS:
ONLY XX NUMBER DIGITS FOR I20F5 CAN BE STORED IN DATA BASE
where XX equals the number of digits of the first Interleaved 2-of-5 sample received by the DMS from
the Analyzer.
If this occurs, the DMS does not receive any more samples, and you lose the results of the sample that
caused the message. If the Analyzer continues to send sample data, at the next sample, the Analyzer
stops and displays this message:
Check DMS Status
You must reset the Analyzer, then label the sample with the same number of digits as all others in the
data base and rerun it.
If you want to use labels with a different number of digits, you must first delete the entire data base,
then set desired number of digits on the Analyzer CRT.
