This section contains information on removing and installing the Briggs & Stratton gasoline engine. For complete
instructions on engine disassembly, repair, rebuilding, and reassembly, refer to the engine manual.

ENGINE REMOVAL
The engine can be removed through the top of the vehicle with the cargo bed and seat bottom removed.
1.
Turn the fuel shut-off valve to the closed (OFF) position
.
2.
Run the engine until all fuel in the carburetor, fuel pump, and fuel lines is used and the engine stalls.
3.
Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s).

4.
Lift and support the entire vehicle on jack stands and remove the rear wheels.

5.
Remove the seat bottom.
6.
Remove the cargo bed.
See Cargo Bed, Section 4, Page 4-20.
7.
Remove the three close out panels.
See Under Seat Closeout Panels, Section 4, Page 4-12.
8.
Remove the exhaust pipe heat shield
9.
Remove the driver side rear shock absorber.
See Rear Shock Removal, Section 9, Page 9-1.
10. Remove the bolt securing the brake hose and cable to the driver side trailing arm
.

11. Remove the clutch cover intake hose and the clutch cover.
