DRIVE CLUTCH DISASSEMBLY
WARNING
• The drive clutch contains a compressed spring. To prevent injury during disassembly, take measures
to secure and control the cap (8) while removing the large M20 x 1.5 hex nut that holds the drive
clutch together (Figure 18-10, Page 18-8).
1.
Place alignment marks on the large M20 x 1.5 hex nut (10) and cap (8) for reassembly.
2.
Place alignment marks on the edge of each sheave for reassembly.
3.
While forcefully holding down the cap (8), use an impact gun to remove the large M20 x 1.5 hex nut (10) and lock
washer (9)
.
4.
Carefully relieve the spring pressure by allowing the cap (8) to rise slowly.
5.
Once spring pressure is relieved, remove the cap (8).
6.
Take the weight blocks (7) out of the moveable sheave (6).
7.
Lift the moveable sheave (6) off the fixed sheave (2) shaft.
8.
Lift the spring (5), stopper (4) and spring seat (3) off the fixed sheave (2) shaft.
DRIVE CLUTCH COMPONENT INSPECTION
Inspect the weight blocks (7) and their seats in the moveable sheave (6)
. There should be
no noticeable wear. If the shaft or weight blocks are worn, scratched, or damaged, replace them.
DRIVE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
1.
Place the spring seat (3), stopper (4) and spring (5) on the fixed sheave (2) shaft
.
2.
Place the moveable sheave (6) onto the fixed sheave (2) shaft and align the marks on edge of sheaves.
3.
Install the weight blocks (7) in the moveable sheave (6).
4.
Install cap (8) and push down against the spring until the lock washer (9) can be installed and the nut (10)
can be started on the fixed sheave (2) shaft. Make sure to align the hex shaped hole in cap with hex shaped
feature on shaft.
5.
Tighten large M20 x 1.5 hex nut (10) with an impact gun until mark on nut aligns with mark on cap (approx. 75
ft-lb (102 N·m)). The nut needs to be in original orientation.
