AAL service
AAL service can be configured as UDT or SDT service.
UDT service provides clear-channel transmission at rates of up to 1544 kb/s for
T1 CE ports and 2048 kb/s for E1 CE ports. You can make a single connection from
a UDT port to another UDT port, channel group, or cell relay VP or VC.
Each UDT port can be configured to include the performance monitoring option. The
UDT performance monitoring service collects performance monitoring statistics; see
chapter 15. Select this option when the 7350 ASAM is at the edge of the network to
which the CPE is connected. UDT service complies with the ITU-T I.363 and
GR-1113-CORE specifications.
SDT service provides 24 channels for T1 CE ports and 31 channels for E1 CE ports.
Each channel can be configured to have transparent or CAS signaling. When basic
SDT service is selected, all octets of the cell carry information. When CAS SDT
service is selected, part of each cell is reserved for signaling. SDT service complies
with the ITU-T I.363.1, GR-1113-CORE, and ANSI T1.403 specifications.
Table 10-2 lists the configuration options for the AAL service. The SDT_CAS
option can be configured for T1 CE ports and for E1 CE ports configured for CAS;
see section 10.3.
