7 — TCA profiles

7.1 Overview
TCA profiles are used for system surveillance and allow such parameters as the
quality of a line or the degree of system congestion to be monitored. A TCA profile
reads system statistics over a user-defined period—either every 15 min or every
24 h. It then determines whether any statistics counter has exceeded its user-defined
threshold over a sufficient period of time on the user port on the Speed Touch 591s
to justify generating an alarm.
TCA profiles combine several statistics in a single profile; therefore, the user does
not have to constantly monitor individual statistics to determine if the system is
operating as anticipated.
TCA profiles are created and applied in three stages:
1 creation of the TCA profile (configuration of statistics thresholds, name of the
TCA profile, etc.)
2 assignment of the profile to one or more ports
3 enabling of the profile on the port or ports
The following sections give details on how to configure TCA profiles.
Note —
If a specific threshold for a performance parameter is not
preset in the TCA profile, the parameter takes its default value and is
still monitored by the profile.
Note — Although not mandatory, it is recommended that configured
TCA profiles always be named to help identify them.
