1. Front P anel Emulation
Description
This utility simulates an HP/Agilent 8360 syn thesizer fron t-panel k eyb oard in an instrumen t.
Procedure
T o access the fron t panel em ulation utility , select the fron t panel em ulation program in the
test men u.
The fron t panel em ulation program cannot run fron t panel functions that use a p o w er meter
or prin ter. These functions cause the Agilent 8360 B- or L-series syn thesizer to act as a
con troller, whic h conicts with the computer as the con troller on the bus. Use a substitute
fron t panel to run these functions, or use the tests pro vided with this softw are.
When using the fron t panel em ulation program, en ter the letter directly ab o v e the caret ( ^) to
activ ate the function or k ey . Note that the k eys are case sensitive (\L" means \ALC" and \l"
means \LOCAL"). See T able 5-4 for a detailed listing of hardk ey designations.
F or n umeric en try , t w o dieren t terminator k eys are com bined on one hardk ey . The actual
terminator dep ends on the active mo de of the syn thesizer.
F or example: When pulse width is the active en try , 4 10 5 4 k 5 en ters 10 ms. When frequency
span is the active en try , 4 10 5 4 k 5 en ters 10 kHz.
Softkeys are designated b y menukey X , where X is 1 through 5 and corresp onds to the v e
softkey p ositions b elow the display . T o activ ate the softkey , press the function k ey on the
k eyb oard that corresp onds to the n um b er X indicated b y men uk ey .
