Evaluation Expired Message
If you attempt to restart the EMS server
after the evaluation period has expired it will produce the following
message, following which the server will stop.
3Com Enterprise Management Suite
Version: 2.40.00
Serial Number: EMSEC046B41016DEBD1EFD34
The 60 day evaluation period has expired. Please obtain a
valid activation key from 3Com Customer Support. To
re-activate your EMS software use the following command line:
runServer.bat -activate <activation key>
Activating EMS
Obtaining an Activation Key
The activation key is obtained from the 3Com website
http://esupport.3com.com
.
You will need the EMS serial number (from EMS server), and the
license key (from the CD) to obtain the activation key.
The serial number is shown in the message above, or it can be found
by entering the
info
command on the live EMS server.
The
-activate
command can be used to enter the activation key so that
the EMS server starts working in a fully licensed mode.
Activate Server Command
The license activation command allows you to enter the activation key
while the EMS server is live. The syntax is as follows:
EMS Server>
activate
(I) Please enter your activation key now:

(I) Please enter your LICENSE key:

(I) Device limit = 250
The activation command is available directly from the server, and from
the CLI client. The GUI client does not provide any means to enter the
activation key.
