Installing EMS
Software
Components
EMS can be installed on the same workstation or on many other
workstations, subject to the terms and conditions of your specific license
agreement.
If EMS version an older version is currently installed, it is overwritten by
the latest version. The serial number and license key information is
preserved when upgrading EMS unless you delete the EMS installation
directory itself.
To install EMS:

If you plan to use HP OpenView or Tivoli NetView on the same
workstation as your EMS server, install it before installing any EMS
software component.

for the available EMS software.
The CD contains the following files:

3ts01_04.exe
is the 3Com TFTP Server for Windows installation file.
■
EMS_gs.pdf
is a PDF version of the EMS Getting Started Guide. It
provides a product overview, installation, and initial setup information.
■
EMS_ug.pdf
is a PDF version of the EMS User Guide. It provides
configuration, operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting
information. This manual only describes the core EMS software
capabilities. For more information, see product-specific
documentation.
■
EMSSetup.jar
is the file that installs EMS, which includes all of the
basic EMS capabilities, including support for generic SNMP devices
and 3Com-specific SNMP devices.
■
license.txt
is the EMS End User License Agreement
■
readme.html
is the file providing basic installation notes and
workstation requisites. It also includes release note information, which
contain last-minute information that could not be included in the
previously-released documentation.
