When remote integration (RIO) is used, the WTC 3005 RIO
Network Module must be mounted in the SLC-500’s rack. This
module provides a direct link between the control enclosure and
the Allen-Bradley RIO network module located in the host PLC.
(The host PLC then communicates with machine controllers and
robots.)
The local and safety I/O is wired directly into the Combination
module, which provides inputs and outputs for local use and
safety interlocks.
The remote integration scheme uses some of the same signals as
those used in the discrete I/O operation. The main difference is
that the I/O is transmitted over a remote I/O link from the RIO
Network Module (in the controller chassis) via the “blue hose”
connection to a host PLC outside the weld control enclosure.

provided in “RIO Image Tables” on page A-1.

Using DeviceNet integration requires the Allen-Bradley™
DeviceNet Module (#1747-SDN Scanner Module). It is mounted
in the SLC-500 programmable controller rack.
This module establishes a direct link between the control
enclosure and the host PLC. The module provides the drop to the
DeviceNet as well as communication with the PLC.
The local and safety I/O is wired directly into the Combination
module. This module provides inputs and outputs for local use
and safety interlocks.
The DeviceNet integration scheme uses some of the same signals
as those used in the discrete I/O operation. The major difference
is that the I/O is transmitted over a DeviceNet link from the
DeviceNet module (in the controller chassis).
The DeviceNet module provides I/O for a six- or 12-pack
configuration. (When using a 12-pack configuration with the
DeviceNet integration, two network modules are required.)
The DeviceNet image table uses nodes 30 and 31. The image
tables are shown in “DeviceNet I/O Tables” on page A-21.
