Response Times
For the safety response time, take into account the execution times of the
local bus, fieldbus, sensors and actuators, as well as the cycle time of the
safe PLC!
To prevent personal injury or property damage, always take the execution times
of the local bus, fieldbus, sensors and actuators, as well as the cycle time of the
safe PLC into account when calculating the safety response time.
3.6.10.1 Safety Response Time of Analog Inputs for Single-Channel
Applications
The safety response time of the analog inputs (
T
SR
) indicates the maximum
duration between a signal change and provision of this response in the input
process image of the PROFIsafe telegram on the local bus. The signal can
change on a single-channel analog input or on two dual-channel analog inputs
(t
1
).
The safety response time of the analog inputs depends on the parameterized
sampling frequency and smoothing. Changing these two parameters results in a
change in the safety response time of the analog inputs. The safety response
time in case of error is never greater than the safety response time in error-free
case.
The following table shows the safety response times for all combinations of the
“Sampling Frequency” and “Smoothing” parameters.
