Sensitivity Problems/No Signal
The majority of concerns about performance surround an aspect of
signal sensitivity.
In most cases, the problems are trivial, caused by a recent change in the
sample introduction system or tuning, and can be addressed with ease.
Only occasionally are they caused by failure of a critical component.
The log view in the Experiment Editor is most useful. It is
recommended to check the previous days log and to make sure that
none of the instrument parameters has significantly changed.
❖
To solve signal problems
•
If no signal is found:
a. Make sure that the instrument is ready for operation.
b. Make sure that all cables between instrument and computer are
securely connected.
If none of the above shows any improvements on the signal, contact
the Qtegra Administrator for further troubleshooting.
•
If a signal is found:
a. Check the solution concentration.
b. Check that the aspirated sample is visible in the spray chamber.
c. Make sure that the cool gas flow and auxiliary gas flow readbacks
are correct and stable.
d. Make sure that the torch body is aligned correctly inside the
torch holder, see
.
e. Make sure that the Pirani readback pressure is approx. 1.9 mbar
(± 0.1 mbar).
f. Make sure that the cones and sample cone gasket are in good
condition.
If none of the above shows any improvements on the signal, contact
the Qtegra Administrator for further troubleshooting.
