Maintaining the Inlet System

Thermo Fisher Scientific

iCAP Q Operating Manual (P/N 1288090, Revision B)

3. Replace the sample uptake tubing. If it proves difficult to insert the

PTFE tubing in the ends, widen them by inserting the tip of a clean
micro pipette tip.

4. Replace the drain tubing.

5. Place the two tubes around the barrel rollers:

a. Make sure that they are not twisted.

b. Secure them in place using the collars and brackets.

6. Attach the tension arms.

7. Ensure that the tubes are fitted for correct sample and drain flow

direction when the peristaltic pump is in operation.

8. Switch on the peristaltic pump in the Instrument Control.

NOTICE

You must be logged in as Qtegra Administrator to access the

Instrument Control window.

9. Check that the sample is being taken up into the instrument and

being drained efficiently.

10. If needed, adjust the tension of the tubing using the thumbscrews

on the peristaltic pump.

NOTICE

If an autosampler is being used, it is recommended to renew

the wash station tubing whenever the sample uptake and drain tubing
are changed.

To remove the spray chamber

1. Remove the nebulizer, see

“Removing the Nebulizer”

page 8-11

2. Remove the Peltier cooling:

a. Remove the thumb screw at the Peltier cooling.

b. Carefully remove the lid.

c. Pull back the holder spring to release the spray chamber.

3. Carefully pull out the spray chamber and the elbow connector from

the torch assembly by pulling out the elbow connector.
