3. Look for any light reflection inconsistencies.
A bent pin reflects light differently, either brighter or darker than the surrounding
pins.
Note –
Do not look at the individual pins, rather look at all of the connector’s pins
as a whole. A bent pin will be apparent.
4. Identify the connector with a pin that needs repair and note this.
5. Look for any contaminants that might be present.
These contaminants might appear as light dots near the pins.
6. Move your head down to the next connector and inspect its pins, repeating
Step 2 through Step 5 .
7. Continue in this manner for all connectors in that column.
8. Repeat Step 2 to Step 7 for fabric card slot 1 to fabric card slot 8.
9. Identify the midplane line card connectors.

Identify the Midplane Line Card Connectors
1. Identify the prerequisite and subsequent tasks you must perform in
conjunction with this procedure, to install the switch.
See the table in “Installation Sequence” on page 20 .
2. Observe the front of the midplane.
The front side of the midplane has an 9x9 matrix of XBOW connectors that
interface with the line cards.
